Product Description

John Claypool had been a pastor for almost two decades, ministering to others who suffered through the loss of loved ones, when the loss came home with the death of his eight-year-old daughter. Tracks of a Fellow Struggler chronicles Claypool's journey through the darkness, written through four sermons. The first was delivered just eleven days after his daughter's diagnosis of leukemia, the second after her first major relapse nine months later, and the third weeks after her death. The final sermon, a reflection on the process of grieving, was preached three years later. With over a million copies sold in its lifetime, this 30th anniversary edition continues to speak of the pain of loss and the hope that ultimately can come to each of us.

A minister suggested that I read this book when searching for the answer to "why" when my baby girl passed away almost twenty years ago. Since then I have bought probably close to fifty copies of this book to give to my friends and acquaintances who suffer lose of a child or have an unexpected death and to my siblings when we lost our always healthy father to cancer within five months. Claypool's sermons written during his own experience of losing a young daughter to cancer has insight one would only have by actually having struggled through their own loss and are truly inspired by God.

My daughter died at 23 days old. During my grieving process I went to counselors, read books, talked to others, etc. Months of doing this, a minister recommended this book to me. Once I read it, I felt like I didn't need to search anymore. I have literally bought dozens of these books since loosing my daughter 19 years ago. (At one point, it was out-of-print and hard to find to buy.) I have passed them on to others who have lost children, adult children, spouses, etc. Many have found some peace/answers from Claypool's sermons just as I did. I am so thankful he was so willing share and be able to articulate his own story of loss to help others who walked through their own struggle.

This is a book about a pastor and his sermons and thoughts before and after the death of his daughter. While he is honest and open about his journey through grief, he shares the hope and healing he has received through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I have shared this book with many people experiencing difficult grief.

This book was recommended to me after my husband was killed in an accident. It has helped me to begin the healing process when I thought it couldn't be done. It's an excellent read.
