I love how God keeps stretching her and her response. I am sad to say goodbye since this is the last of her escapades. Can't wait for Nancy Rue to bring some more people to life.
My Book AddictionNorth CarolinaAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5THOUGHT PROVOKING AND SOUL STIRRING...November 26, 2012My Book AddictionNorth CarolinaAge: 55-65Gender: femaleTOO FAR TO SAY FAR ENOUGH by Nancy Rue is an interesting contemporary christian fiction. Book #3 in "The Reluctant Prophet",but can be read as a stand alone, with re-appearing characters. See,"The Reluctant Prophet" and "Unexpected Dismounts". Allison Chamberlain has done what she thought God required of her,but she may have to do more, including losing what she most wanted in life. Will she be able to go another mile, and maybe lose the love of her life? Filled with drug-infested neighborhood, anger, hatred, adoption, love, prostitution, faith, sorrow, hope, adventure, healing and romance. What a thought provoking story! "Too Far To Say Far Enough" will stir your heart as well as your soul. A must if you enjoy inspirational, fiction, heartwrenching, and soul searching stories. I have not read the other two in this series, but intend to soon. Received for an honest review from the publisher and Wynn-Wynn Media. Details can be found at the author's website,David C. Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5A different kind of prophet of God!!November 9, 2012Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4"Every Monday morning I quit.
Before I even crawled out of bed, sometimes even before I clawed all the way from dreams to the mental pile of stuff I was going to have to try to make a dent in, if it was Monday, I said, out loud so there could be no misunderstanding: "God, you're going to have to find somebody else to be your prophet, because I'm done. You got a recovery group I can get into?"
Sometimes I'd imagine such a group - a place where I could sit in a circle with other people who were in way over their spiritual heads and say, "Hi. I'm Allison, and I'm a recovering prophet."
But there was no Prophets Anonymous. There was no recovery from being one - although at times I would have given up my Harley to escape it - and there was nothing anonymous about it. I knew. I'd tried that.
That particular Monday, however I skipped quitting. I didn't even give a nod to the stack of not-yet-done stuff teetering just beyond my reach, waiting for one more thing to topple it over. Because that late-August Monday, almost exactly one year since I'd caught twelve-year-old Desmond Sanborn trying to steal my house key, I was standing in front of a judge, about to adopt the boy." (pg 13).
That's a perfect example of how frustrating the days of Allison Chamberlain have been when she feels the nudging of God just once more in her life. Just how many more times will she have to answer the call? In this conclusion to The Reluctant Prophet series from Nancy Rue, Too Far to Say Far Enough provides some closure for Allison. She finally comes to terms with God's calling in her life. She learns to understand what is meant when one answers God and the price we often have to pay. I personally think this novel helps readers understand a different take on the definition of prophet of God. I believe we think it means being endowed with all-mighty powers to do greatness when called for God, and in some ways we are, but it is to impact the lives of the people God places in our paths. Sometimes it can be a homeless girl that has no where else to go, or a victim of violent crimes. God wants us all to heed His call and to go forth and become prophets of our own.
I received Too Far To Say Far Enough by Nancy Rue compliments of David C. Cook Publishers and Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review. I honestly believe this book is a must read for everyone especially in this times where God might be nudging you to act. I would recommend reading the first two books in the series first in order to understand the background and calling in Allison's life more but this makes for a powerful conclusion. I rate this one a 4 out of 5 stars.
CTF DevourerCTF DevourerAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5If you only buy 1 book this year, pick this one!September 21, 2012CTF DevourerCTF DevourerAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I've always claimed I couldn't pick a favorite book. Tonight that may have changed. I just read Too Far To Say Far Enough by Nancy Rue and it was beautiful. Laughter, tears, panic that made you want to flip ahead but too rich to let you miss a word, passion, romance, love, family, enemies - it's all there. I get it. I really do. God says "go another mile" and trust Him to be there, even in the pain. I want that, the determination she has to go where He says to go. I've got the burden, but there's so many questions...
Anyway, go read the book. Unless you're determined to run the other way when you hear God's voice, this is one book you won't regret taking the time for!
