Too Busy Not to Pray
I read this book 20 years ago. Our pastor recently mentioned it in his series on PRAYER. I re-read it and ordered a copy to pass along to others. Lots of practical helps as well as challenges to strengthen my own prayer life.

Excellent Book on Prayer
I was a relatively new Christian when I read this book. I was amazed at how it answered so many of my questions on prayer. Great detail was put into this book. This is a resource that every Christian should read. It is fantastic. I have bought several copies of this book to give as gifts, especially to new Christians.

Good beginning, but hidden agenda at the end
This review may seem mean-spirited to those who've read this book and I hope I explain the low rating. The book does a good job of encouraging the Christian to have a better prayer life and the reasons why. Mr. Hybels has alot of scripture support and good insight into that aspect of our Christian walk, but as I was reading it as part of a men's Bible study, there were subtle messages about social justice that creeped into the lessons. I made no big deal of it as it seemed to, at the time I read it, go along with our actions in connection with our prayers, but the last chapter stunned me. Mr. Hybels strongly encouraged social actions (which are Biblical in the proper context), but used no scripture support for them, just what he thought Jesus would say. I wondered why he would say Jesus wanted us to do these things, but couldn't come up with any scriptures he could quote. I may be jumping the gun, but it seemed like this was another attempt at a social gospel, in other words, Christians changing all of the ills of the world primarily and using our faith to do it. This is the same social gospel that leads Rick Warren and Rob Bell to put social action above the Gospel and saving souls. I am all for social action, but the last chapter is Mr. Hybel's agenda and putting Jesus' name on it to provoke believers to social action his way. This is not the primary purpose of believers or the church, and adding this message to the book takes a lesson on prayer and leads us to do things Mr. Hybel's way, not the Biblical way. Read this book for the lesson on prayer and skip the last chapter because to me the ending is the true purpose of the book and that's misleading.
