Very good book
Today's Shadow's by Becky Melby was a unique book that went back and forth in time to tell the story. I was somewhat confused at the beginning, but as the story unfolded I was able to see that as
an important part of the overall story and how the past helped change the future. I loved all the discoveries Heather, Ryan and Izzy made in the mansion. Ryan and Heather were very likable characters. My favorite character was Izzy, because she was such an adventurous little girl who had me smiling throughout the book. I was pleasantly surprised at the ending as I did not see it coming. I enjoyed Today's Shadow's and plan to go back and read the other two books in the series. I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

Great Conversations
I enjoyed the story and thought the suspense was well written. I liked the conversations between the characters as they flowed well from one thought to the next. My favorite part of the book was how the female characters had life to them! They were not just these sweet women that sit quietly while the hero rescues them but had great thoughts on their own. I gave this book 5/5 stars. I liked the setting, time period and mystery. I think anyone who enjoys a clean romance with a touch of suspense and intrigue will enjoy this story.
I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

Interesting Mix of Contemporary and Historical
In 1911 in Racine, Wisconsin, Maggie Parker is the sole servant in the Hamilton household, a home that is rife with discord. Mrs Evangeline Hamilton secretly attends meetings about women's suffrage, Mr Maxwell Hamilton is having none of these modern ideas, and Richard Hamilton, the adult son, seeks to court Maggie despite the fact that they are not of the same social class and her father is in prison.. In her spare time, Maggie writes stories about her life in serviceâÂÂand essays about women and Christianity.
In the present day, Heather Conrad has escaped to Racine after "her boyfriend decided he'd rather be her brother-in-law" (that is such a great line I has to quote it). But what she thought would be month alone house-sitting for her ex-boss turns into a month baby-sitting the boss's seven-year-old daughter, Isabel, and it seems that everywhere she goes in Racine, there is that man with the camera. There is also Ryan Tobin, a handsome security man who she meets in a coffee shop, who helps after Isabel gets lost in the old house.
Stephanie Lansing has spent the last ten years partying, but the sudden illness of her father has brought her home with a feeling of regret for the wasted years, and with a mystery. There is a mystery message that his other daughter has been found--yet Stephanie is an only child, so she begins to search, wondering what she might find.
This is the third book in the Lost Sanctuary series, but each book is a stand-alone story about unrelated characters. What ties the series together is that each story is about the past and present in a single house, and involves the present inhabitants gradually finding out more about the previous occupants, just as the reader finds out more in the flashback chapters. The danger with this approach is that readers might find one story far superior to the other, but in this case I found them both equally interesting.
Each story had an element of mystery (with an unexpected twist), an element of romance, and an unexpected but fascinating discussion on Christianity and the rights of women. Most importantly, the end left me with a smile on my face. Very enjoyable.

A unique and riveting story
The third book of the Lost Sanctuary Series by Becky Melby is TodayâÂÂs Shadows in which two women-a century apart-are connected by a house and much more.
In the year 1911 Maggie Parker is maid, cook and housekeeper for the Hamilton family, one of Racine, WisconsinâÂÂs most affluent families. To keep her sanity in the eccentric household Maggie pens the autobiographical tales of a character named Magdalena Mouse and dreams of traveling the world. Little does Maggie know that her writings will have a profound effect on a future generation.
Fast forward to present day and Heather Conrad is looking forward to turning over a new leaf traveling to Racine to housesit for her former boss, Natalie Brooks, and work on a new business proposal to jolt her career back into gear. The minute Heather arrives, however, those plans take a dramatic turn. In addition to minding a maze of a Victorian-era mansion, Heather finds herself also caring for boss Natalie Brooksâ seven-year-old daughter Izzy and contending with some suspicious people who seem to be following them.
TodayâÂÂs Shadows is a work of inspirational fiction with a dash of suspense and the prerequisite happy ending. Ms Melby creates a dynamic cast of characters while cleverly weaving the stories of Heather and Maggie in a truly original narrative. Plot twists and the transitions in time period make TodayâÂÂs Shadows absorbing and difficult to put down. The story also has a beautiful message in viewing God as a loving father, especially in the absence of oneâÂÂs own earthly father. The only critiques one might acknowledge are some off-putting descriptions (i.e. a protruding âÂÂblack tongueâ to refer to the disk tray on a DVD player) and some overly simplistic language. Otherwise, TodayâÂÂs Shadows is definitely worth reading if you are looking for a uniquely good story with a strong message of love and faith.
