winddancerMichiganAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5This movie portrays the importance Christianity and teen suicideAugust 16, 2014winddancerMichiganAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This is a great movie with a great message! This movie captures what Christian teens and non Christian teens deal with in everyday life with each other in school settings. This movie also tells us of what pastors and churches deal with in the teen community and how they reach out to teens. I liked how they wrote in the script about a local pastor who volunteers to pick up teens that have been drinking without chastising them. This does happen in some communities. It's a great way to reach out to teens. This movie also tells of how difficult it can be as a Christian and a teen as well as how important it is to not judge other teens that appear to be alone and untidy. We must reach out to them. This movie covers how important friendships are. We should have both Christian and non Christian friends. We must not turn a blind eye to old friends for popularity and the main character in this story has and has regretted it. This story also tells us about being unequally yoked. When we want to change and our partner doesn't. Wonderful movie with many realistic messages that also shows us how to deal with everyday stress of friendships and Christianity with discernment. Teen suicide is something that should not be taken lightly and I feel that schools and teen groups at church would benefit from showing this film.
NELBAlbertaAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Definitely one of the best christian moviesFebruary 14, 2014NELBAlbertaAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5While this movie does depict some of the seedier side of teenage life (drinking, premarital sex, considering abortion, a couple of swear words) it has an amazing message and is one christian movie I would rank up there with many a Hollywood movie for acting and overall quality. Our teens are not living in a bubble where they are not exposed to any of these things in their lives and it was not overly done but pretty realistic. You might actually get a non christian teen to watch this and respect its message instead of thinking it's one of those christian movies with some lame acting and unbelievable, predictable Polly Anna conversion/everything miraculously works out perfectly in the end movies.
Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent acting and realistic portrayal of issuesMay 27, 2013Debbie from ChristFocusHarrison, ARAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5"To Save a Life" is a Christian fiction movie. I liked that the people acted realistically. The Christians didn't have all the answers, and the main character didn't get everything right once he accepted Christ. The situations that the teens found themselves in are accurate to what kids currently deal with at school and at home. The movie shows drinking, a bit of cussing, even implied sex, but they also showed the consequences of actions. The actors did a great job of drawing me into the story. I'm generally not that impressed with the acting in Christian movies, but I think all the characters in "To Save a Life" were well-acted and had depth. It had a good message, too. I'd highly recommend it.
ShanerzAge: 25-34Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5It's reality folksFebruary 10, 2013ShanerzAge: 25-34Gender: maleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4I have read some of the reviews thus far... And I have to say as far as Christian films go, this was one of the best.
Oh no, there is a scene with teens drinking (out of red plastic cups, no less). Oh no, the teen said a bad word in church.
It's life, folks. And the pastor did not applaud him for swearing but for being real and genuine - something that is hardly ever done by Christians because we're too busy putting on a show for everyone else to see.
This film is a step in the right direction and tackles a lot of issues that teens deal with.
kttmwillinoisAge: 35-44Gender: male2 Stars Out Of 5DisappointedJanuary 26, 2013kttmwillinoisAge: 35-44Gender: maleQuality: 2Value: 2Meets Expectations: 2There were good points to the movie but it is hard to not focus on the negative. This is a movie that didn't need them. First foul language used even during the youth group and later the pastor says that was the coolest thing he had seen. Next there was multiple scenes of drinking, drug use, a sex scene and girls wearing revealing tops and short skirts. The worst I felt was the girlfriend was going to get an abortion and the boyfriend says I will support you either way. I would have more respect for the writer if this were a secular writer instead of a pastor. I find this disappointing and disturbing.
Q: Is this the "church-friendly" version of To Save a Life?
No, this DVD carries a PG-13 rating. The "church-friendly" version is no longer available.
This is not the "church-friendly" version, but is the full length film. Although the "church-friendly" version shortens some of the scenes that contain disturbing images, sexuality and language, it does not eliminate them altogether and still carries a PG-13 rating, as does this version.
Q: can i watch this in the UK is it region 1 or 2?
This is only playable in Bermuda, Canada, United States and U.S. territories. You would have to own a DVD player coded for these regions to watch this DVD.
