This is a great book. Every bit as good as their first in the series. It was hard to put down once I started reading it. I recommend this book to anyone who likes history mixed with fiction. Excellent book!
This is the second book of this seven-book series. I have read all but the third book, which I have begun. A word of warning to anyone contemplating buying this book: Do not be turned off by the constant warfare, violence, and suffering in this book. (These are the characteristics of the first three books.) This book is absolutely necessary to a complete understanding of the last four books, which are different and thoroughly enjoyable. Above all, the unbelievably heroic characters shine all through the book. And the authors did a really beautiful thing in ending the book with a heartwarming scene of a child who has lost his mother during bombing and who continues in shock--until the unusual caring of an unlikely person to do such a thing causes the child to recover beautifully. (Sorry if I gave something away here.)
