I have only had this set of books for a few weeks, but my early impressions are that they will be my first choice for an overview of a portion of God's Word prior to any more exhaustive study. These books are much like the author's radio program in that they do not speak over the head of most readers, and the language is similar to that used by a loving uncle.
Our Son has recently started to read the Bible more and wanted to have some study resources. So, I purchased a set for him as a gift to further his knowledge of the Scriptures. I have purchased three sets of Vernon McGee's commentary and given away two sets. I have found as a student of the Bible and a Theology major that Thru The Bible by V.M. is informative, sound in theology, and easy to read, yet in depth enough for the advance theologian to refer to as a reference. I have several hundred books, commentaries, and research sources, but I always return to "Thru The Bible," as a companion study guide with my study and reading of the Bible.
