Insightful but tough
I highlighted many things particularly around the first third of the book that stuck out to me as truthful, wise or useful to remember. A lot of it is very insightful.
It references many people with drug and alcohol addictions when I was hoping it would be more generic, but given he is a preacher in Vegas I understand why.
The practical advice is tough stuff nobody really likes to hear- turn to God, replace your idols with Him, say sorry, forgive people etc. He acknowledges that things tend to get worse in this situation before they better. But he repeats himself to make sure we get the point that God really is the only answer, and the author has lived it out himself.
To be honest it's not what I was hoping to hear but I guess it is the best way. I just don't have the nerve to do it all just yet.
Worth a read for all those little insightful lines that will stand out to you and you'll want to highlight and meditate on.

perfect book for "re"gaining a Christian heart
I haven't finished reading this book yet, but what I've read is helping me continue to know Christ and how I can live FOR HJim in the midst of living handicapped; I learned about it from one of my pastors, and I'm glad she talked about it!

Calling a Spade a Spade, in terms of Addictions.
Addictions like inordinate and unbridled knack to risk it all by gambling(times are tough, hence every little helps!),or our contention for mastery with alcohol & substance misuse which we resort to in other to drown out our pains, worries and obsessions.
Pain from the breakdown of family cohesion and homes, pains of failed relationships,or pains accruing from inexplicable fear of nondescript sources. While the gyms and personal trainers or even some hypnotic new year resolution procedures may sometimes help tone down these unwanted "blobs"; how do we deal with the "spiritual addictions"?
Throw it Down, written by an ex-addict,Jud Wilhite offers step-by-step help and inspirational anecdotes of the struggles and repercussions suffered by those trapped by clutching on to such negative habits & dependencies, enroute their deliverance.
