With June only a few weeks away, Lelani, Anna, Kendall, and Megan have to plan two weddings, attend another wedding and a bar mitzvah, and deal with the stress that comes with their fiancés and boyfriends.
As Kendall plans her wedding, she has a little help from her family, including her overbearing mother. Anna and Edward go through a rough patch when the new intern shakes up their relationship. Lelani learns to juggle planning a wedding, caring for her daughter, and getting along with her soon-to-be in-laws. Meanwhile, Megan questions her heart and her relationship with Marcus when he goes on a mission trip to Africa. In dealing with these trials, the girls find theyre searching for more than just life and love: theyre searching for God, just as Jeremiah 29:13 says, You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Three Weddings & a Bar Mitzvah is full of relatable content and dialogue, especially for those who have graduated from college and are beginning their careers. The four main characters come from very different backgrounds and walks of life, yet all are lifelike and three-dimensional. Carlson did a wonderful job of creating each character and making each girls personal challenges genuine. God is mentioned throughout the book, but prayer and the Bible could have been a stronger factor.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it for anyone who has read the previous three. It is a satisfying ending to the series and wraps up all the loose ends nicely.
