Publisher's Description

In the final installment in the 86 Bloomberg Place series, Melody Carlson follows the girls in a crazed competition for bridesmaids, wedding locations, and showers. Newly engaged Lelani has returned from Maui to Bloomberg Place and is trying to book her wedding date. Unfortunately there are scheduling conflicts for that same weekend. For starters, Megan and Marcus have a family wedding commitment. Anna and Edmond have promised to attend his younger stepbrother's Bar Mitzvah and, to everyone's surprise, Kendall has just accepted her "Maui Man's" proposal of marriage and also wants to be wed on that first weekend in June. Wedding madness ensues at 86 Bloomberg Place, yet at the same time friendships are being forged that will last a lifetime.

Author Bio

Over the years, Melody Carlson has worn many hats, from pre-school teacher to youth counselor to political activist to senior editor. But most of all, she loves to write! In the past eight years, she has published over ninety books for children, teens, and adults—with sales totaling more than two million and many titles appearing on the ECPA Bestsellers List. Several of her books have been finalists for, and winners of, various writing awards. And her Diary of a Teenage Girl series has received great reviews and a large box of fan mail. She has two grown sons and lives in Central Oregon with her husband and chocolate lab retriever. They enjoy skiing, hiking, gardening, camping and biking in the beautiful Cascade Mountains.

Melody Carlson’s Three Weddings & a Bar Mitzvah, the final installment of the 86 Bloomberg Place series, is an uplifting story about the trials of life and how friendships and romantic relationships can help us weather those storms. With June only a few weeks away, Lelani, Anna, Kendall, and Megan have to plan two weddings, attend another wedding and a bar mitzvah, and deal with the stress that comes with their fiancés and boyfriends.

As Kendall plans her wedding, she has a little help from her family, including her overbearing mother. Anna and Edward go through a rough patch when the new intern shakes up their relationship. Lelani learns to juggle planning a wedding, caring for her daughter, and getting along with her soon-to-be in-laws. Meanwhile, Megan questions her heart and her relationship with Marcus when he goes on a mission trip to Africa. In dealing with these trials, the girls find they’re searching for more than just life and love: they’re searching for God, just as Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Three Weddings & a Bar Mitzvah is full of relatable content and dialogue, especially for those who have graduated from college and are beginning their careers. The four main characters come from very different backgrounds and walks of life, yet all are lifelike and three-dimensional. Carlson did a wonderful job of creating each character and making each girl’s personal challenges genuine. God is mentioned throughout the book, but prayer and the Bible could have been a stronger factor.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it for anyone who has read the previous three. It is a satisfying ending to the series and wraps up all the loose ends nicely. It’d be the perfect addition to a youth group library or to send to that college-aged young woman who needs a break from studying. – Caitlin Wilson,
