We read Healer together and plan on reading Rebel together, as well. While my husband didn't have any issues with the pace of the story, I felt that the whole thing was some awesome pivotal scenes strung together with a lot of filler. There were too many times when we found it easy to put the book down and not come back to it for weeks or months. I also felt that the book was entirely too long; there was a lot of fluff that could have been left out. The roster of characters is head-spinning, but I did manage to keep most of them straight. I liked Sorcha very much, especially her gift of music and singing. Caden grows tremendously throughout the book, both in his faith and in his values. If you like histories of the early Christians or Arthurian fiction, you may want to try this series, starting with Healer.

Miralee Ferrell5 Stars Out Of 5Exceptional FictionJune 18, 2011Miralee FerrellQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This was in my top three books I've read so far this year...an amazing work of fiction. The story of Sorcha's search for her roots--who she is, where she belongs, and who she loves, drew me in and held me captive. The characters are beautifully drawn, the plot and dialogue never drag, and I loved the interaction between the variety of characters. Good action, adventure, and a glimpse into an era not often written about. I didn't know there was a "book 1" when I read this one, and while I did miss a little background and would recommend you DO read book 1, I still thoroughly enjoyed this one. I've read very little of this author's work in the past, but am now a die-hard fan. I bought the first book in this series and plan to read it and the one that comes after. I HIGHLY Recommend this series, this book and this author!!
