These books have changed my life.
March 5, 2014
These books are amazing. God has used these books to heal my broken heart. It has taken years. I tried counseling for many years and couldn't understand why I couldn't get better. I realize now that it is God that is the great physician. These books go along with Gods word to bring healing to wounded hearts. I cannot say enough about them. I have watched other people change as well. They not only look at the sin of the person who has wounded us but how we protect ourselves and sin after the abuse has taken place.
This book and workbook are exceptional. Great resource for step by step pushing through and breaking chains from the past for hope and healing in the future. For those who feel it is too painful, let me share with you that the past and the trauma are so much worse. It is like cleaning an infected wound. Necessary to open it up, draw the poison out, apply the medicine (God's truth) and let true healing take place. This book and workbook do just that.Be careful not to judge the strength and fortitude of those strongly seeking freedom from childhood sexual trauma.
The church I used to attend had an amazing ministry based on these books. Many women (and men!) have been able to use them to face their painful past and allow God to heal their hearts. I am one of those women. Another reviewer expressed fear that the books might hurt more than help. It did hurt to work through these books, but the benefit far outweighed the pain in the end. If childhood sexual abuse is part of your story, I highly recommend working through The Wounded Heart books. And FYI: Follow the order of the workbook, not the main book.
I can't express how disappointed I am by these books. I bought them for a loved one, but thought I should look over them first. I'm glad I did. I can only imagine that these books would hurt, and not heal. The author (and the people who wrote forwards and such) use a lot of words without actually saying anything helpful. My loved one is dearer to me than all the world, and I could never give such a book to someone so close to my heart.
