Product Description

Translated by Edward T. Oakes, S.J. The book makes clear how much the issues dividing Catholicism from Protestantism had been transformed in the course of four centuries. It shows how a fundamental rethinking of issues could lead, not just to a rapprochement between the two great rivers of Western Christianity, but to an astonishingly new understanding of the Christian message in the modern world. The entire book has been translated from the original German.

    Scott Kirkpatrick
This is an excellent book written by a top Catholic theologian about the greatest Protestant theologian of the 20th century- Karl Barth. It will serve as a good introduction into the theology and work of Barth. Written in a style which allows Barth to speak for himself this volume will serve as a primer for both Catholic and Protestant Christians alike regarding not only Barth's theology but also a vision for the Church which helps evaporate the disfiguring fog of division within the Church by pointing to the way taken by our Savior- Christ is the way (Jn. 14:6). The question is: Can we follow the implications drawn out so clearly in this book that we are willing to give our all to follow Christ?
