Well done Elizabeth Musser! This book was well written, engaging and filled with everything a good book should be. At first I wasn't sure what to expect, because it doesn't exactly qualify in my usual repertoire of historical romance, but in it's pages I found characters that became my friends. In the lives of these two young woman, innocence and virtue is tested, death and pain becomes a reality and life's prejudices and differences are realized. It's a story that rings true for us all whether it's in the 20th century or not.
Highly recommended to those who love to get lost in a good, memorable piece of fiction.
This book absolutely blew me away. I'm really not into the cheesy christian romance novels, and am very picky when I read christian fiction. However, this book was absolutely flawless. A definite must read! The thing I really appreciated about it, was that the romance was really sweet, but not cheesy, partly because that wasn't the main focus of the book, and I like that. I like it that it had a little bit of everything. Friendship, Faith, Romance, mystery. It was great. It also really made you think, it wasn't superficial and light, it really got to the heart of things. By far my favorite book ever.
This book changed my life. If you love to read, need a good book to read, hate to read, or even if you don't know how to read and need someone to read it to you (in that case you wouldn't be reading this now...), buy this book! Elizabeth really rocked it with this book. So buy it now!
Sometimes we're afraid to relive the pain of the past because it just hurts too much and we are afraid of how the people around us will react if they know the truth. I'm glad Mary Swan decides how important and healing telling the whole story to her daughter will not only help her but has life changing effects on her hurting daughter.
