He lives in a world populated by horror movies and comic books, content to hide in the shadow of adolescence. Under the scrutinizing eye of his older brother, Jeff, a pastor, Dras lives a life of professed Christianity with very little observable spirituality. He must change. However, when a demon known only as "the Strange Man" comes to his small town of Greensboro and threatens Drass best friend, Rosalyn Myers, Dras discovers that only by putting his faith into action can he save his friend from danger. Suddenly he is thrust into a race against the clock and forced to battle demonic forces in an effort to convince Rosalyn to accept Christ and turn away from the coming evil. Author BioGreg Mitchell likes monsters. So much, in fact, he has written this trilogy about a small town learning to take a stand on faith and challenge the dark forces creeping in. Greg is a Christian who believes that the Bible is 100 percent true, and he does his best to live his life according to its principles and write things that help teach others about Jesus Christ. Back in 2001, he co-wrote the novel Time Changer, published by White Harvest Books, with his friend and Christian filmmaker, Rich Christiano. In 2002, Time Changer was made into a theatrically released motion picture, and it is now available on DVD. Greg lives with his wife and daughter in Paragould, Arkansas. Located in: Paragould, Arkansas Submitted: May 19, 2011 Tell us a little about yourself. My name is Greg Mitchell. Im married to an incredibly patient and supporting woman, and we have two beautiful daughters. By day, I work at the family business, silk screen-printing caps. By night, after the kids go to bed, Im able to spin my spooky yarns. What was your motivation behind this project? My growing up years were filled with comic books and monster movies. I had a very whimsical childhood, full of daydreams filled with heroes fighting creatures. I was captivated by those kinds of stories, but sadly didnt see much like that in my local Christian bookstores. Since I was a young teenager, I wanted to write something that combined my love of monsters and scary stories with my passion for communicating Gods Word. What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Firstly, I hope they are entertained. "The Strange Man" is a thrill-ride, and I hope people laugh, gasp, and cheer by the end. In a deeper, spiritual sense, I want to excite people about their faith. To inspire them to look at their faith in a new waynot as something you dust off before church service on Sunday morning, but as a living, dynamic power that can radically impact the world around you. Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I still love monster movies, from every era of cinema history. From the silent movies, to classic Universal Monster movies, to Hammer films, the campy fun of the 80s movies, and beyond. I think monsters can be used as great symbols of very real fears we possess as people. I think those movies are the best. I love seeing good triumphing over evil. I love seeing underdogs conquering their fears and failures to battle the monster. I also am really inspired by the Old Testament saints. The supernatural was very much a part of their natural world. I love the excitement in those old accountsthe way God demonstrated His power through His people in very dramatic ways to subdue His enemies. Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Everyones welcome to visit my blog at TheComingEvil.Com, where they can stay updated on the progress of the entire "The Coming Evil Trilogy", as well as read internet-exclusive short stories that tie into the novels. I also make a practice of interviewing authors and reviewing books, so theres always something going on. Find Related Products |
