I wanted a story of the birth of Jesus that also told the gospel message. I got even more with "The Gift". It covers what sin is and how sin has separated us form God and explains what a savior is and explains Jesus as savior. It also stresses that the Bible is God's word and that it is all true. It does all this in a fun hold kids attention kind of way. I showed this to a group of kids ages 4 years old - 4th grade and it held all ages attention. I highly recommended the Story Teller DVD "The Gift"

This is a very good retelling of the story of the birth of Christ as told by the toys in this delightful cartoon. I tivo-ed this story for my two kids along with some other Christmas stories in leau of all the Santa and reindeer stories out there. They do watch and enjoy the Santa/reindeer stories but I want my kids to know the true meaning of Christmas and this story does an excellent job. The computer generated cartoon not only tells the story but also gives some background such as the possible meaning behind the three gifts given to Jesus by the wise men. Both my children know the Christmas story and many other Bible stories but have never seem to have been so captivated by them. My almost 8 year old son has watched this story over and over again in the last week since Christmas. He has actually learned quite a bit including what the three gifts are by memory. The cartoon also keeps my almost 5 year old daughter's interest as well. Since then my kids have also seen the "Storyteller Cafe: The Rebel" which is about Jonah and the Whale. My kids were also delighted by that one.The biggest reason I enjoy them watching these cartoons are that they give not only the stories but some history of the times and meanings of some of the things and events in a fun way that my kids remember and, most importantly, enjoy.I came to this site today to see if this cartoon and others like it are available for sale. I was delighted to see that they are.
