The Shining Sword 5 5 4 4

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the writing. The story itself is exciting, biblically sound, and inspiring. I read this aloud to my 12 year old son several months ago, and he has re-read it several times on his own. I plan to read it again to myself on an upcoming vacation. As other reviewers have stated, it's a book which can be appreciated by those older than the recommended 8-13. There is much food for thought within. August 10, 2012

Wonderful, Biblical allegory for kids and adults! An extremely well-written and exciting children's book, this allegorical story will grasp the attention of all readers, ages 8-100! The deep spiritual truths covered in this adventure story will enlighten children and adults to their own daily struggle against sin and temptation while providing practical Biblical helps. A modern day "Pilgrim's Progress." June 28, 2011

I read this book aloud to my 8 and 5 year old sons. The adventure kept their attention and the link to real-life spiritual battles was not lost on them. The way the author's words pointed even my heart to the Truth of God's Word was, for me, a life-impacting journey. The description of this book says it is for 8 to 13 year olds, but I disagree. I think it is worthy of being read aloud to as young as 5 and for any age older than 13 this book can be used by God to engage the heart of any reader. July 10, 2008

I read this book aloud to my boys, ages 8 and 6. They were very involved with the plot and begged for more each night. As a read-alone it would be suitable for a third-fourth grade level and above. April 20, 2007
