I've read three other books by Stephen Bly and I think this is the best. The story is set in 1884 with the main character being Grace Burnette Denison who is a twenty-eight, almost twenty-nine-year-old telegraph operator. She is a head-turner but isn't married and carries a picture of a mysterious little girl in her locket. She has been chased away from Iowa and Washington D.C. by her senator father lest she ruin his chance at becoming president. He sends her away to New Mexico Territory with the last words: "I never want to see you again". From the moment she steps off the train in Lordsburg, New Mexico she and a mysterious man named Colton Parnell are never the same again. They endure vengeful cowboys, lawless men, a reckless woman outlaw, and the growing pains of love together. The end of the book is quite sweet but I will say no more, so hopefully, you buy this page-turner and read it yourself!
This is a must-read!! Everyone should read this book. It is not one of those mushy-gushy books that some authors write. This one is full of mystery, laughter, and a little romance here and there. This is the first of Stephen Bly's books I've read and I'll tell you one thing....I can't wait to read the rest!
