But when Renee Gilmore, the woman he loves, receives a box containing a bloody finger and draconian demands from a mysterious enemy on the outside, Danny must find a way to escape.
They are both drawn into a terrifying game of life and death. If Renee fails, the priest will die; if Danny fails, Renee will die. And the body count will not stop at two.
THE SANCTUARY is Ted Dekker at his best, a powerful thriller that relentlessly plumbs the depths of punishment and rehabilitation, both in a flawed corrections system and in the human heart.
Dekker's new thriller is skillfully written, surprising, and impossible to put down. It might, in fact, be his best novel to date...and will keep readers captivated to the end. This is an extremely well-thought-out novel, precisely plotted, and, like a good magic trick, deceptive and startling. A daring and completely riveting thriller.
-- Booklist, 2011 Starred Review
The Priest's Graveyard by Ted Dekker is an amazing novel, utterly compelling, the story of an abandoned girl and a strange, vengeful priest whose paths eventually cross-with terrifying consequences. Intensely readable, well written, and completely original.
--Douglas Preston, co-creator of the famed Pendergast series of novels
-- Tess Gerritsen, New York Times bestselling author of Ice Cold
"Here's the best part about The Priest's Graveyard: It's smart enough to realize that, for many, the scariest thing in life isn't a monster or something that bumps in the night. It's love. Love is terrifying. And powerful. And unstoppable. And if you don't already know that, you're about to see why. The Priest's Graveyard will haunt you -- long after you want it to."
-- Brad Meltzer, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Book of Fate and The Inner Circle
"If you've never visited Ted Dekker's world, do it. The Priest's Graveyard is perfect entertainment. Beguiling, compelling, challenging, and riveting--fantastic gimmick-free storytelling--that's what you get with Ted Dekker. Don't pass this up."
-- Steve Berry, New York Times Bestselling Author of The Emperor's Tomb

It would be a very bad place to be. As far as recommending this book to a friend, I would have to really think about it, the contents are something everyone can handle. It might have come with a warning about the violence portrayed.

No doubt about that. In fact, I needed an occasional break from it; it was that dark. However, in typical Dekker style, redemptive themes made the payoff worth it. I really enjoyed The Priest's Graveyard, so this was a great sequel. There are twists in it that I didn't see coming. When it comes to the depravity of man, Dekker is a master at showing it. But he also shows how love is greater than all of the darkness. I love that about his stories. Anyway, I enjoyed this one. I don't want to tell too much and spoil it for readers, but let me say if you enjoyed the first book, you'll find this one worth your time as well.
