Tell us a little about yourself. I grew up in love with stories. When I was young, my uncle always told us campfire tales at family reunions or get togethers. I remember always looking forward to those times, and eventually, I began to make up and tell stories of my own.
What was your motivation behind this project? In this 5th installment of the Patrick Bowers series, I knew I needed to wrap up some of the storylines, but also introduce some new narrative threads that will lead into the next book. Since beginning this series, Ive fallen in love with the characters, and its been fascinating to see their transformations as each book moves forward.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Since I write thrillers, Im always trying to touch people on an emotional level. That deep personal engagement in the story is what satisfies me and really draws readers in.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? The Queen really satisfied a lot of the questions Ive had about the development of the characters. In the book, I explored the concept of forgiveness: What does it mean to forgive others? What does it mean to forgive yourself? Asking these questions really helped me understand how forgiveness plays out in my own life.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: The books in the series: The Pawn, The Rook, The Knight, The Bishop, The Queen, are not for the timid. I dont hesitate to explore evil and try to honestly portray the fractured nature of man. If youre squeamish, you may shy away from the graphic nature of some of the scenes in these books, however, if you really like psychological suspense, I think youll enjoy the series.
