Paul's Epistle to the Ephesians is possibly best known for its description of the 'Christian's Armour'. The letter is a reminder to the churches in Asia to live out their faith in the light of the redemption unveiled by God. It is a section of scripture that has lastingly influenced many believers throughout church history. R.C. Sproul looks at the main issues raised in Ephesians. These include how to overcome idolatry, God's sovereignty in ALL things and the importance of fellowship and commitment to the church for healthy spiritual growth. There are many areas in the epistle, which have occasioned real dispute in the Christian church, and these are dealt with in Sproul's customary style - deeply profound and the ability to communicate illuminating truth. You will be surprised at how freshly Paul's understanding of the Christian faith leaps off the page.
R.C. Sproul is a gifted communicator and writer. Clarity is the quality of this book. It should be read by any Christian who wants a better understanding of the meaning and relevance of God's word.
The Book of Ephesians is familiar and favored territory in most believers' Bibles. Yet grasping the full spectrum of this epistle can be daunting. In The Purpose of God R.C. Sproul provides enough altitude to see the majestic theology of Ephesians and enough detail to see the practicality of its terrain. This short volume makes the complexity of Paul's arguments simple and the simplicity of its imperatives profound. I highly recommend it!
"Combining lucid exposition, theological reflection and contemporary application, this commentary makes the majestic teaching of Ephesians accessible and engaging for church life today."
Pastor Grady3 Stars Out Of 5Less than thrilledFebruary 16, 2015Pastor GradyQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3This little volume reads like listening to Sproul teaching. He has many wonderful insights, but, he has a propensity to wander down theological rabbit trails in a way that distracts from the overall message of the Epistle. He definitely leans toward systematic theology rather than textual exposition. For a layperson purchasing one book to guide their way in Ephesians, I recommend Ferguson's "Let's Study Ephesians" as having the edge over Sproul.

Sproul communicates clearly, and leads deeper into scripture, without leaving me behind in the dust.
