Tell us a little about yourself. Gemma Valentine is an ordained minister. She is President of Harbor Lights Associates, Inc. a non-profit enterprise which hosts a bi-annual business expo for entrepreneurs in the kingdom of God. She is the editor of "The Small Business Review" a magazine which advertises the efforts of small to medium businesses in her community. She was a pastor for many years but God has changed her ministry genre and has given her an apostolic calling. Her apostolic ministry is called Fire, Deliverance, Prayer, Power and Praise, under which falls Woman to Woman Ministry, Missions to the Caribbean, and Watchmen and Gatekeepers Ministry. Plans are under way to launch a school for ministry in the spring of 2010 called 'The School of the Holy Spirit". Apostle Valentine writes two newsletters, one for women in ministy called 'The Apostle's Corner', and one for prophetic intercessors called 'Watchmen and Gatekeepers'. Woman to Woman ministry has been given a mandate by God to empower women called into the ministry. Apostle Gemma validates their calling and brings about prophetic alignment and clarity to the true purpose of the call of God. She teaches women how to walk in the spirit, how to understand the call of God, how to know God and how to live a life of holiness. She has written a book called "While Men Slept" which gives insight into the church's need for the ministry of deliverance. She has been a missionary to the Caribbean since 1993 to the present time and continues her annual ministerial outreach in that area.
What was your motivation behind this project? I was asked by a Pastor to teach at a marriage seminar at his church. I began praying about the assignment and the Holy Spirit began giving me revelation on what He wanted me to speak about. I began writing, we did two days of teaching at two different marriage seminars at that church, and there was information that I could not cover because the sessions were timed. Then the Lord said to me, "put the information in a book."
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? This book is unlike other books written on the theme of marriage. It is not a 'how to' book. The author gives the reader an insight into the spiritual as well as the physical purpose of marriage and God's perspective on why He designed this noble institution, and what was His original intent. He is calling His church back to the biblical pattern which was built on two principles; the law of love and the law of agreement. Satan has tried his best over the centuries to pervert this divine institution and modern society has been trying to change God's design and formula without taking into consideration that the formula for life is in the original design that God gave to Adam. God is lifting up His divine standard and pattern through this book so that all who read will understand God's purpose for this divine institution.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Being an intercessor I have gained a better understanding of warfare against God's design and purpose for the family. Writing this book has made me realize the depth of why it is very important that the man and his wife pray together. This fosters unity with singleness of heart, the prayer of agreement puts up a united front and barrier from outside intruders. I was able to draw from my own experiences and share many things that were edited out of the final draft. One of the things I shared is that my husband is 'my assignment; after we were married the Spirit of God spoke to me and said. "Stand on this word for your marriage - what God has joined together let no man put asunder". No matter what the circumstances are, my duty as a wife is to hold up this man of God in prayer, so that the shield of prayer can surround him at all times and when all forms of temptation comes his way.
