PopsAge: Over 65Gender: male5 Stars Out Of 5EXCELLENT FOR BOTH YOUNG AND OLD.July 13, 2012PopsAge: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5AFTER READING FOR MYSELF, I ESPECIALLY ENJOY READING THIS BOOK TO MY GRANDCHILDREN. ITS COMPOSITION IS BOTH MEANINGFUL AND CHALLENGING FOR ME AND THEM [AGE 8 THRU 14]. IT TAKES PLACE IN THE 1800'S, BUT THE MORAL VALUE HAS A STRONG MESSAGE FOR TODAY.

I enjoyed this book thoroughly and it's sequel The Princess and Curdie. You can't just read one without the other!
A wonderful fairy tale, but beneath the fairy tale lies much more meaning than at first may appear. -
LibbyAge: 18-24Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5MagicalNovember 26, 2018LibbyAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I had heard about how much this author inspired C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, two of my favorite authors, so I wanted to give him a try. I am so very glad that I did!!! This is a magical fairy-tale with echos of Narnia and beautiful truths woven throughout. I was blown away by the beautiful language and the rich descriptions, and stunned at the simple, but profound way the author has of delivering truth. I am saving this for when my son is old enough to appreciate it, first as an enjoyable fairy story, but one day also as a well of inspiration.
