This format was not conducive to our group. Moving back and forth between video and discussion is disjointed. Materials in the book were not very helpful without the video...which I had to borrow because it is not longer available. In short: 3 stars at most.
My ONLY complaint is that the speakers are not looking at the camera..they are looking out in the distance....doesn't seem as 'engaged' as I would have liked...but they are all knowledgeable and terrific! My class enjoyed this series.
My husband and I facilitate different Bible studies. We have reviewed the DVD and the workbookfor our groups and we both think they are greatly informative. We enjoyed the change of teachers, as well as the several breaks for discussion. We believe it will stir up interesting, open dialog within the participants.
I have been leading a Men's Wednesday Night Group using this video series. Our group has found this series to be informative and has led to some very interesting discussion to real life application. We have enjoyed the background information given about Jesus' day and how the societal differences play a part in the meaning of scripture. We have enjoyed the way that the series mixes up teachers, each bringing their own style and perspective. The book itself is very good for note taking and weekly review, but I would not say it is a must have for going through the video series.I recommend the series both for personal and group study and have enjoyed and learned from it. I look forward to exploring the Parables and Miracles series as well.
