Publisher's Description

Beginning where the foundational truth of Desiring God left off, that "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him," this expanded rerelease of another classic by John Piper will further explore a life-changing essential -- "We will be most satisfied in God when we know why God himself is most satisfied in God." Fully understanding the joy of God will draw the reader into an encounter with His overflowing, self-replenishing, all-encompassing grace -- the source of living water that all Christians desire to drink. The Pleasures of God will again put God at the center of Creation and leave the reader very satisfied in Him.

We are working through this book at our Saturday mornings mens group. Piper is a thinker and causes you to consider things you never thought about. He truly gets you to think about the excellency and glory of God in a way that I never had. This book gives you the meat of the word and not some lite snack.

I have read through Piper's volume on God's delight in being God three times now and everytime I do I find more and more to chew on. It is a masterful volume completely centered on God. If you have not read it, do so! It will change the way you think about and love God!

Great Book! I wouldn't say it is easy to understand or that you could fly through it. I found that each paragraph deserved careful reflection and therefore should be read more than once. It's devotional and theological. It's my favorite book of Piper's.

Must reading for every Christian. This is a book to do for small groups, bible studies, and devotions. Builds the foundations for "Christian Hedonsism" in the tradition of Edwards, the Puritans, Augustine, the apostles, Jesus, David, etc.

This book is truly a gem! I never thought I would fly through it in less than a week. Not only does Piper systematically define the joys of God, but leaves such sweet taste in your mouth afterward as well! This books is great if you are looking for something solid on the sovereignty of God, Christology, the atonement, and yes.....even election and predestination. Piper is a well known reformed theologian and Pastor, but by NO MEANS presents his case in a stuffed manner. As in all of Piper's books, he passionately expounds the supremacy of God in all things in a style that I can only define as "sweet calvinism". This book radically changed my view of God, for the better, and showed me the my God was too small! Not only would I recommend it, I would encourage you to pick it up as a gift for your friends as well!

The best extra-Biblical treatment of the person of God that I've ever read. Christians can't understand who God is until they understand what brings Him pleasure. This book answers the hard questions about this- "why does God do what He does?" Piper shows us scripturally what God enjoys and what motivates Him. A MUST-READ!
