Product Description

The story of John and his odyssey to an enchanted island which has created in him an intense longing. John's pursuit of this longing takes him through adventures with such people as Mr. Enlightenment, Media Halfways, Mr. Mammon, Mother Kirk, Mr. Sensible, and Mr. Humanist and through such cities as Thrill and Eschropolis, as well as the Valley of Humilation. The first book written by C.S. Lewis after his conversion, The Pilgrim's Regress is, in a sense, a record of Lewis's own search for meaning and spiritual satisfaction that eventually led him to Christianity.

C.S. has a gift. He was a modern day profit. His command of language and languages is unparalleled. Pilgrim's Regress is right there with Pilgrim's Progress.

I purchased this book for my daughter(heavy into existentialism) with the hopes she would be as taken by John's trek as I had and Lewis' poignant allegories would be noticed. (Sometimes we can't see the forest...) I may wait a while, but won't be disappointed.

I loved this book ~ as a fan of CS Lewis I was drawn to his take on the "current" trends in society. This was a much easier read for me that Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress
