But he has no memory of his past. Meredith is home with help from her sister and an elder friend to help her. Jonah, friend of Meredith's, continue to visit her and help around her place. Meredith thinks her sister is falling for Jonah. Her sister feels Jonah is falling for Meredith. Luke's mother does not approve of Jonah visiting Meredith.
The Pieces of Summer is part 4 of 6 in The Discovery saga written by Wanda E Brunstetter. I really enjoy this series. It is so realistic. It is very obvious that God is putting people in Luke and Merediths lives to help them through this time in their lives.

Perfect for a "take along" book. Perfect to just drop in a purse or bag. I really liked the cliff hangers at the end of each book. Left me wanting more. I'd like to see this author, as well as others do this type of series again.
tammy cook4 Stars Out Of 5The Pieces Of SummerOctober 15, 2013tammy cookIn Bird-In-Hand, PA friends and family have been pitching in to help pregnant Meredith Stolzfus since her husband Luke was killed in a bus accident. With the baby's due date fast approaching Meredith wishes that Luke could be around for their baby. Meredith's childhood friend Jonah Byler regrets never letting her know he was interested in her when they were younger.
Eddie, a patient that came to the hospital in Philadelphia, Pa as a John Doe is no longer in a coma. Susan, his nurse, has been praying for his recovery since he arrived in January. She has also become quite attached to him. Eddie begins to recovery physically but can't recall anything from his past.
This novella seems more slow moving than the first three. The ending will leave you hanging with a little unexpected excitement.
If you have read this series from the beginning you know about Eddie. If you haven't, there are spoilers to follow. As I'm reading I'm trying to figure out how everything is going to work out. As of now, Eddie has no idea that he is Amish. I question how his haircut didn't give it away since most people don't get haircuts like the Amish. I'm sure Wanda Brunstetter has an ending that is not expected because the obvious ending would be that Eddie fully recovers his memory. Which means Meredith and Luke are reunited. But Jonah is falling more in love with Meredith and will probably tell her soon. I can't wait to see how everything works out in the end.
Readers may not like that this is not an entire book. This story is a novella and is meant read to be with the rest of the series. You won't learn much from just reading this novella by itself.

As a fan of Little House on the Prairie, it seemed like a place lost in time. Amish books have grown in popularity and I have enjoyed many of Wanda Brunstetter's books, many of them being series books. These novellas were especially unique in that they were very short books that end with a cliff hanger that leads right into the next book. Originally published 6 months apart, I enjoyed being able to read them as one complete novel back to back. I expect that they will probably be released as one complete novel in the future. None of the books works as a stand alone title.
In The Pieces of Summer , Meredith's long time friend, Jonah, steps in to help her out. Though she still holds on tightly to her love for Luke, a special friendship begins to develop with Jonah. Meanwhile Luke awakens in the hospital to be aided by a young nurse, Susan. The friendships with these new characters are developed during this book which ends with the emergency birth of Meredith's baby in a buggy.
