Publisher's Description

Three lives intertwined, tied together by dangerous circumstance and the faint echoes of an elusive hope. To make it through, each must find their way to the Light that's found only on the other side of darkness.

After setting out on a forced vacation, and literally running into a moose, Manhattan Assistant D.A. Samantha Knowles finds it's not so bad being stranded in a quirky but intriguing Adirondack town. But when her three-year prosecution against a convicted killer begins to unravel, she's thrust into a whirlwind of haunting memories, fear, and danger...and suddenly, Haven isn't so safe, after all.

With no future in Haven, and no way to escape the small town, teacher Zack Bordeaux fears he's doomed to a life of mediocrity.

Haunted by the deaths of his wife and son, landscape artist Jonathan Gladstone feels bound to an estate he both loves and loathes.

When Zack and Jonathon meet Samantha,
their lives take on a different course.

The Other Side of Darkness sounds sinister and evil, but in reality it is a very inspirational suspense story because on "the other side of darkness" is "a place where hope" dwells and that hope can only be found in Jesus.

Sometimes, you know you like a book, but can't quite put your finger on the exact reason, or reasons. That's where I am. I enjoyed every moment of reading the story. I didn't find it frightening, but definitely eye-opening. Haven sounded like a wonderful place to hide and recover and I, too, love the smell of hyacinths. It reminded me of my childhood home.

If you like suspense, with just a touch of romance, you will like The Other Side of Darkness.

Sam, Jonathan and Zack are a trio of tortured souls. The Other Side of Darkness is the tale of how God works in their lives, together and separately, to heal each of them.

The legal thriller element was exciting and well done. Although the scenes from the antagonist's point of view were few, he provided major tension right up to the end.

The romance part definitely didn't follow formula. Sam is quite a confused woman, and the ending was not what I expected, but was still very satisfying.

The secondary characters were an amusing and quirky lot without becoming cliché or detracting from the main plot. The message of forgiveness is clear without hitting anyone over the head and without sermons. The town of Haven was beautifully described.

The Other Side of Darkness is an enjoyable read. Anyone who enjoys romantic legal thrillers or romantic suspense would enjoy this book.

Just got done reading, "The Other Side Of Darkness", by Linda Wood Rondeau! Such a good read! The heiroin, "Samantha Knowles", is going through life blaming herself for her dad's death! It takes God's intervention, with the help of a moose, to make her realize she's not in control of her life. Assistant D.A. Samantha Knowles is forced to take a vacation by her boss and ends up in Haven a small town in the Adirondacks! Everything in her life starts to unravel: a murder conviction, (that took three yrs of hard work), a troubled childhood and two men vying for her attention. Will Sam turn back to God in time or will danger find her before she can.

From a unique plot to wonderful use of language and a marvelous theme, Rondeau hit a home run with this book. Sam Knowlton needs to run--not only from her job and Harlan Stiles, but the "backpack of guilt" she carries. When she hits a moose in the town of Haven, God works in her life. The results are not what you expect.

This book is a fabulous one from debut author Linda Rondeau.

What a marvelous job Ms. Rondeau does of keeping the reader on the edge of the seat all the way through the story.

With a touch of humor, a jolt of suspense, and confusing attraction all jumbled together, she leads you through quite a winding tale. I honestly wasn't sure how it would all end—and I really love it when that happens!

From her untimely meeting with a moose, Assistant District Atty. Samantha Knowles weaves her way down an unmarked path leading her to a life she never expected, and certainly never planned. And although choices are taken out of her hands, it's quite obvious that God's hand is guiding her all the way.

The rest of the cast of characters is a wonderful mix of people, too. I certainly hope you get to meet them.

    Great story!
