Worth the time to read
The Other Side of Darkness sounds sinister and evil, but in reality it is a very inspirational suspense story because on "the other side of darkness" is "a place where hope" dwells and that hope can only be found in Jesus.
Sometimes, you know you like a book, but can't quite put your finger on the exact reason, or reasons. That's where I am. I enjoyed every moment of reading the story. I didn't find it frightening, but definitely eye-opening. Haven sounded like a wonderful place to hide and recover and I, too, love the smell of hyacinths. It reminded me of my childhood home.
If you like suspense, with just a touch of romance, you will like The Other Side of Darkness.

A Tortured Trio
Sam, Jonathan and Zack are a trio of tortured souls. The Other Side of Darkness is the tale of how God works in their lives, together and separately, to heal each of them.
The legal thriller element was exciting and well done. Although the scenes from the antagonistâÂÂs point of view were few, he provided major tension right up to the end.
The romance part definitely didnâÂÂt follow formula. Sam is quite a confused woman, and the ending was not what I expected, but was still very satisfying.
The secondary characters were an amusing and quirky lot without becoming cliché or detracting from the main plot. The message of forgiveness is clear without hitting anyone over the head and without sermons. The town of Haven was beautifully described.
The Other Side of Darkness is an enjoyable read. Anyone who enjoys romantic legal thrillers or romantic suspense would enjoy this book.

This book has it all
From a unique plot to wonderful use of language and a marvelous theme, Rondeau hit a home run with this book. Sam Knowlton needs to run--not only from her job and Harlan Stiles, but the "backpack of guilt" she carries. When she hits a moose in the town of Haven, God works in her life. The results are not what you expect.
This book is a fabulous one from debut author Linda Rondeau.
