Linda5 Stars Out Of 5November 27, 2009LindaThis is an AWESOME book!! Thanks, Jay,for compiling the thoughts of so many who share favorite life verses like my own. God bless you and your family.
Linda5 Stars Out Of 5July 31, 2008LindaI received this devotional as a gift this past Christmas, so decided to wait and begin using it as my daily devotional for 2008. It has been such a HUGE blessing in my life, as so many of the verses, which are special to others, are also verses that are among my own favorites. It's exciting to read just 'how' a particular verse has impacted another person's life, or 'why' it is special to them. Thanks, Jay, for a book that will always hold a very special place in my heart!!

Tell us a little about yourself. Jay K. Payleitner is a husband, dad, writer, radio producer, speaker and fathering advocate.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Really, I simply want people to open their heart and mind to this concept: the Word works. Do you have life verse? I challenge you to share it often. It's a great question to ask. And talking about your own "life verse" is a great opening to tell your own story.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Researching and writing this devotional, it became more and more clear that God is speaking to real people today through His Scriptures.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Some of the best stories in the book are regular folks sharing their life verse. I also included some historic heroes of the faith -- like D.L. Moody, Bach, Blaise Pascal, Lincoln, John Bunyan and Rosa Parks. Plus, biblical characters from Cain to Nicodemus. The 365-page devotional also includes the first person stories of quite a few ministry leaders, authors, musicians, and pastors you may have heard of: Chuck Colson, Joni Eareckson Tada, Dr. James and Shirley Dobson, Kevin Leman, Stuart and Jill Briscoe, Lisa Whelchel, Josh McDowell, Kurt Warner, Elisabeth Elliot, J.I. Packer, Pat Williams, Bono, Steve Brown, Jack Hayford, Angela Hunt, Jerry Jenkins, James MacDonald, Randy Alcorn, Skip Heitzig, Chip Ingram, Sammy Tippit, Patrick Morley, Francine Rivers and Lee Strobel. The stories behind their life verses are quite compelling.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: My own life verse (October 18) is in there too! Go to oneyearlifeverse.com and you can even share your own. Which, by the way, I might include if we do a sequel to this devotional! The Word works! Jay
