Where were you when it happened? Where are you now?
How long before you say something, before you do something?
In the midst of adversity, God can seem distant, cold, and strangely silent--an Everest of indifference. When we come to him with our questions and our doubts, sometimes it seems we are climbing the North Face of Mount Everest, scaling unstable rock. As we scale the frozen slopes of suffering and hardship, we need others to climb alongside us and help us along the way. In this honest and penetrating look at the problems of suffering and pain, Gire offers perspective, hope, and encouragement for the climb.

One review said that it didn't give answers to the hard questions and I would have to say to that person read it again looking for God in the pages, and you will find your answers. I have read a number of books on the same subject and Ken Gire used of God in His writing, reveals so much of how to accept Gods silence, and to keep praying, begging, to know why. In the big picture the vastness of this world "even from the top of Mount Everest we still cant see everything because of the curvature of the world" we arent meant to, just put our faith in an Almighty loving God and Jesus our Saviour. Its a journey of a life time and with an open heart and anticipation of God answering, you sometimes discover it in the pages of a book as beautifullty written as this one, obviously written by a man of God with his heart wide open and experienced in suffering and in Gods silence WOW
Christina Paul3 Stars Out Of 5August 6, 2008Christina PaulIt was an okay book. Its focus was on stories in the lives of others, not as much as solutions for trusting God as whats happened to other people and how they got through it if they did. It likens everything to a hike up Mount Everest. Not a bad book, but I was always waiting for it to say more than stories.
Ruth M. Sanders5 Stars Out Of 5May 10, 2008Ruth M. SandersI've read 2 of Ken Gire's books and passed them on to others. I don't recall ever having been touched to the soul as I have by reading Ken's writings. I doubt that he could write like he does without his having experienced the trials of life that bring us closer to God, nor if he didn't know God in a personal way. I am looking forward to getting my next book by Ken Gire. God bless him!
Gail Hendrix5 Stars Out Of 5August 31, 2007Gail HendrixThis book is shockingly honest! The author dares to put on paper what many believers feel, yet pretend they don't; whether that be distance from God, betrayal by Him, or simply silently disappointed. And at the same time, offers encouragement to the believer that it is in the asking of questions, and directing them to God, that He reveals Himself to us as only He can. Through the Psalms of David, and the insight of the author, we see that we can dare to be honest with God, and in that process, meet Him face to face! Beautifully written!
