This popular Bible written for children has a new layout. The text has been updated and is designed to be enjoyed by children as well as the adults who read it to them. There are pictures on every page by the illustrator Fred Apps. Let the real adventure of the bible shine through.
NiseyChatham, OntarioAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Excellent book, easily understood by young kidsFebruary 23, 2012NiseyChatham, OntarioAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5I love this book. We read it at lunch and dinner. I have young kids and it is easily understood and enjoyed by them. I also really appreciate that there is no pictures of Jesus in this book...hard to find and very important for me.

I haven't read it all the way through yet but I am reading it everyday to my 2 small children. The pictures are nice but not very large. I think it will be an excellent help to teach my children the Bible in a way that is easier for them to understand.

Anne Devries tells the stories as redemptive history with a focus on the future coming of Jesus who will fullfill all that happens in the old testament. Our children and grandchildren love to listen to these stories.
Charis Mayo1 Stars Out Of 5August 17, 2010Charis MayoI was very disappointed with this book. It takes too much liberty in interpreting the stories, so that there is error when compared to the Bible. This starts immediately with Adam and Eve, where the book states that the fall was all Satan's fault. Some Bible story books are worth getting for the pictures, and then you as the reader can edit how the stories are told to children. However, this book's illustrations are small and disappointing.
Elaina Russo4 Stars Out Of 5May 3, 2010Elaina RussoThe New Children's Bible by de Vries describes a bit too much violence for our 4-year-old son. Cutting off heads, burning people alive, etc. are too graphic for my taste. Though all of these events are taken from the Bible, a scaled-down version for youngsters would be more appropriate for those wishing to steer clear of physical aggression for as long as possible.
