As a hostage negotiator, Kate OMalley lives life on the edge. When shes thrust into the center of an investigation in the aftermath of an explosion that killed over 200 people, she struggles to maintain her calm resolve. One of her siblings springs a dark secret on her and promptly declares she cant yet share the news. Under all that pressure, will Kate uncover the truth before the bomber comes after her and the people she loves? Will she learn to trust God before its too late?
The OMalley Chronicles is one of my favorite series of all time, and reading The Negotiator by Dee Henderson for the third (at least) time only served to further cement that. Suspense, action, drama, comedic moments this book has it all. The characters are so rich and realistic theyre easy to relate to. And the adventures that find them! You wont lose interest in these books.
What I really love about these stories is the principles woven into each one. At their core theyre all about finding Gods love in a personal way and then sharing Him with others. Beyond that, each book focuses on its own set of principles. The Negotiator worked with justice and mercyand the balance thats necessary for each to shine brightly.
I will never tire of this book or its companions. Have you given them a try yet?
Kate O'Malley is tops in hostage negotiating. She can go into a dangerous situation and remain apparently detatched or even bored as she works to safely diffuse the problem. However, her life suddenly becomes chaotic and uncertain as the darkness of her past threatens her future. Dave Richman, an FBI agent, desperately wants to protect her; but she thinks she is capable of taking care of herself.
She is about to find out she is wrong. Will she open her heart to love and God?
I really enjoy Ms. Henderson's ability to bring the characters in her novels to life. The O'Malley series are a must read!
Wow, this story grabs your attention from the start and pulls you right in! Kate O'Malley is a negotiator and she is SO good at her job! She thinks she's an only child but growing up in an orphanage she quickly became family with 6 other orphans and gave themselves the last name O'Malley. I LOOOOOOVED getting to know them and seeing how they look out for one another. Jennifer, the youngest, is the first of them to get engaged. However, the closeness they share with one another is admirable and wonderful to see.
I really admired Kate's strength and calmness in emergency situations and I absolutely loved how she meets FBI Agent Dave Richman, during a bank holdup, and how they immediately click. I only wish there had been more negotiating scenes for Kate within the story similar to that first one. It's so well written, Kate has my full respect from that moment on. The main conflict in the story is Kate's unbelief in Christ, but it was interesting how she wrestles with this unbelief. Between her kid sister's faith and Dave's prayers, it's only a matter of time before Kate realizes God does exist and despite her hard life, God has always been with her.
This is my second book by Dee Henderson and definitely my favorite one so far! What an awesome family the O'Malley's are and despite how different they are from one another, it was such a treat to watch them loving one another and protecting each other. I also have to say that Henderson writes clean police stories that have plenty of action but are also realistic and entertaining, what a great book!
