I purchased quite a number of these to give away as Christmas gifts. Of course I kept one for myself and plan to use the included plan to go through the whole Message Bible in one year. I love the easy to understand language which is so relevant for the younger generation. And I think that seeing the words on the screen while hearing them being read helps one retain more than just hearing or reading separately.
I was a little disappointed in this product. I find the narrator's reading of the text uninspired and his voice undistinctive. The female voice on some of the other features too heavily British in accent.I am also disappointed that the text can only be chosen by chapter--there is no way to go directly to a particular paragraph in the chapter. The only way to cue it up is to listen to all the preceding verses and press Pause. In a similar vein, the weekly Bible readings are long (Gen. 1-23 and Ps. 1-3 for the first week) and continuous.I am disappointed that the Bible game doesn't give you the right answers on questions you miss--it merely goes on to the next question, so you don't necessarily learn anything from playing it.The other features on the bonus disc are of very limited value to me in my ministry.
