Rob Brendle is associate pastor of the 11,000 member New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he speaks to several hundred twenty- and thirty-somethings every week. He also serves as special assistant to the president of the National Association of Evangelicals, an organization representing 52 denominations and 30 million American Christians. He and his wife, Mauri, have three children.
"This timely and dynamic message has everything you need to transition successfully from one season to the next in your life. The book’s frank style will position, then equip and empower you. Rob Brendle is brilliant, fun, and witty. He is a man who has moved wisely within his years. Read In the Meantime...and reap."
--John and Lisa Bevere, speakers and authors of Drawing Near and Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry
“Finally, a guide to help us do what most of us do so poorly, wait! Insightful, practical, and truly witty, Rob Brendle pens the heartfelt path from God's calling until God's fulfillment of His call. Bravo!”
–Douglas Weiss, Ph.D, Executive Director of Heart to Heart Counseling Center
“Rob Brendle’s book is an important contribution for young people who are confused about the pursuit of God’s will for their life, and also a great reminder for the not-so-young who need to continue on the journey with the Author who writes all of our stories for His grand plan. Rob has a gift for writing in a both humorous and down-to-earth style, and he clearly is one who is living his calling.”
–Ed Young, Senior Pastor of Fellowship Church, Grapevine, Texas, author of YOU! The Journey to the Center of Your Worth
“A young pastor brimming with zeal and wise beyond his years, Rob Brendle conveys a fine combination of Christian insight and earthly good sense in this stimulating, enjoyable book.”
–Dinesh D'Souza, author of What’s So Great About America, Hoover Institution, Stanford University
David White5 Stars Out Of 5December 20, 2005David WhiteI happen to be one of the lucky ones to hear Pastor Rob speek every week at New Life Church, and this book is such a blessing to have. It speaks directly to you and encourages you in your walk with the Lord. I highly recommend this book to everybody, especially if you feel as if your are in that place were you are not sure what to do and you ask what am I to do in the meantime.

Tell us a little about yourself. I serve as Associate Pastor of 12,000-member New Life Church in Colorado Springs, where I lead our SATURDAY NIGHT congregation. My wife, Mauri, and I have three children and love mountain biking and skiing. We feel privileged to serve God's people, and hope to spend our lives in pastoral ministry.
What was your motivation behind this project? After several years of ministry to young adults, a few common themes emerged from the thousand conversations over lattes at Starbucks. None is more prevelant than this: I'm here--waiting tables, framing houses, flipping burgers, whatever--but I feel like God's called me HERE. How do I get from point A to point B? What do I do to live into the calling of God for my life? What they were asking, in essence, is what do I do in the meantime?
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? As New Testament believers, God has a calling for everyone of us. The process of realizing that calling, though, is not typically instantaneous or effortless. The Bible prescribes several practical, proactive ways to live into the calling of God. I hope to unpack and delineate some of those practices for proactive waiting.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Earnest Hemingway taught me to write and Scott Fitzgerald gave me a love for language. Tender is the Night and The Sun Also Rises had a profound effect on me as a college student, and they are probably most responsible for my becoming a writer. C.S. Lewis gave me a love for explaining theology in practical terms, Dietrich Bonhoeffer inspired me to persuade people for Christ, and Ted Haggard showed me that there's no higher calling than a local church.
