A. C. Gilbert, who invented the Erector Set, American Flyer Trains, chemistry sets and a host of other educational toys for children, is encouraged by the Government during WWI to stop the production of toys and build items useful to the Allies. He sees the morale of his factory spiral down until he realizes that there are more important things in life that just the war effort, that of family.
A great story of a man that is largely forgotten in today's consumer economy; break it, throw it away.
It can become too easy to believe that one is doing that which is right. One must look at the whole picture before making life changing decisions.Gil leaped before seeing where it might take him,but luckily he got to redeem himself.
Our whole family loved watching this movie. BAsed on a true story during WWI this brought to life what people went through back then and was a joy to watch with the family. We can be swayed by the world but hopefully, we will remember what is truly important in life. AMen!
