Product Description

The Letter Black storm out of the gates with their charged debut Breaking the Silence. According to guitarist and background Mark Anthony, "Our songs are not always happy, but rather about real life situations. All of us go through different chapters in our lives, and in these chapters we write letters of good and bad times. Some letters in our chapters, we are happy to share. Others, we are not so proud to reveal. The Letter Black reminds us of the past mistakes we have made and helps us remember to not keep making the same mistakes."

I think a lot of being are being unfairly hard on this CD, even critiquing the band's motives for creating the music. That is unfair to them. I also think labeling their sound commercial is a bit unfair too as a lot of music could merit such a label and yet doesn't get it. Lead singles "Hanging On By A Thread" and "Best of Me" are probably the most commercial of the songs, and they sound great. The other four songs are intense rock songs that I really would not consider commercial at all. I don't even consider them radio-friendly. And for people wondering where this band's heart is at, their debut album definitely shows how passionate they are and how direct their message is. While that is toned down a bit on here, remember that this was their record label debut and is only an EP, so we can't be too harsh. Ultimately, I think this band is one to keep an eye on. Musically, I think they can give the best of girl-fronted rock a run for their money, and fans of other Christian Rock mainstays should find plenty to love about this release.

I like this band. Caught them in concert at Houston backing Skillet. This band is going to go places I think. Keep rockin' in Christ.

I'm sorry but I didn't really care for it. I thought the sound was somewhat cheap and commercial and the depth of their message was not far from the same. I think it's just another example of shallow spiritualality put up for commercial consumption. We would like to see those who are truly walking with Him. If some aren't partaking of the bread they will not be able to offer it to others.

I bought this CD at a Skillet concert and it is great. I would recommend this product to all hard rockers out there
