Andreola Review

Meet real-life heroes who were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice on the shores of Iwo Jima! This WWII docudrama centers around the emotionally charged return to the island for a reunion on the 60th anniversary of the invasion. No ordinary war documentary, the film introduces the men (now in their 80s), who are accompanied by their sons and grandchildren, and keeps the focus on the true meaning of manhood and what it means to be a father. It recalls a time when fathers spoke to sons and grandsons about the important things to believe and do. Along with archival war footage and letters sent home to loved ones, we also see touching interviews with these Christian soldiers and their families.

The men featured in this film believed they had a duty to raise up the next generation to love and serve the Lord. Their war experiences only strengthened these convictions, as they reflected on the precious few days we have to do all that God has put in our charge. If there was ever such a thing as a Culture of Christian Fatherhood and Manhood, where boys are taught to be defenders of women, children, and home life, and to honor their mothers and fathers, it has not been more clearly outlined than in this heart-lifting presentation. Bonus material includes two vintage films from the U.S. war department. For the whole family, ages 10 and up. Approx. 70 minutes.

This film depicts the true legacy of what is important for men to give to their children. For those women who have lost loved ones in service to our great country, it is a legacy for you to pass to children as well. As in the Bible, God was always present in battles. It is sad to see that God is becoming more and more distant to those that fight for our God given freedoms. The providence and love for God is that most important in the legacy to children. This film could soften most hearts! I would have loved to have known about this film before my Dad died in 2007 - he loved the country he served in the Navy for during WWII. He instilled such a sense of patriotism to the day he died. May we never forget, with God before us, none can be against and defeat us.

Loved this film, gives some history along with the role of fathers to their children. Another great one by vision forum.

I encourage everyone to see this film. For a particularly poignant experience, fathers, watch this with your children if they are 11 or older. My heart soars with pride as an American with 2 grandfathers who served with honor during WWII, a father who served during Vietnam, and a husband who served during Desert Storm. But even if you think you are not directly connected to the military, you will see your own heritage of freedom with deep roots reaching back to these heroic men. As one ponders the sacrifice made at Iwo Jima, one can't help but consider more deeply how, in the face of so much priviledge bought at such a high price, we can pursue a life that is worthy of such a priceless gift. It is indeed reminiscent of the same love and gratitude we feel for Jesus Christ.

This video documents the 60th anniversary visit to Iwo Jima. There is a line in the documentary that describes sons crawling through brush on hands and knees just to get to the spot where their fathers stood and fought. If you never understood heritage and legacy before, you will be confronted with the powerful truth of it after watching this video. Whether you father or grandfather, you will appreciate what they did for all of us. If your relationship with them has been strained in the past, watch this video with them and be prepared for some healing...and questions.
