This review was written for The Last of the Mohicans.
Great book! If you are expecting it to be just like the Daniel Day-Lewis film, you will be disappointed, but if you can step back and view it independently, then it is a very good book. Several places had me laughing out loud, and others had me crying. I especially appreciate that a good bit of the French remained untranslated, and that most of the footnotes were from James Fenimore Cooper himself.
