Product Description

In the beginning the race of beings called datta reveled in their world, their gifts, and made Da-Dat-Shee, the three-hearted God, the center of their lives...until they turned inward, seeking their own pleasure. In an attempt to right the wrongs, every ten years they chose a Cordate among their younglings to carry Grief from the planet. But the evil Necrose stopped the Cordates before they could accomplish their mission.

Now Talasa begins her journey as Cordate. She's convinced that the glorious age of Diapason awaits. Yet, are the people ready to receive this news? receive this news? With Necrose lurking, the journey will be perilous indeed.

Author/Artist Review

Tell us a little about yourself.  I am a retired special education teacher who grew up on the wonderful fantasies of Lewis, Tolkien, E Nesbit and many others. I loved to imagine other worlds and fantastical creatures. I also have a God-given love and desire to write. Both of these led to the writing of this book.

What was your motivation behind this project?  As a member of a Missouri-Synod Lutheran church, I give up something each year for Lent. Usually I give up desserts or chocolate but in 1988 I gave up my writing which was a difficult sacrifice. During that time I read a book by Richard Adams that gave me the idea of writing an epic spiritual journey. I had to wait until Easter to act on this idea, but as soon as Lent was over, I began planning, listing ideas, names, places and creatures for the fantasy God had placed in my mind. This book was the easiest and most fun to write of all my books!

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I hope readers will be able to identify with my character Talasa as she moves from total innocence at the beginning of her journey to dealing with pride, deception, intolerance and evil along the way. I hope her struggles will be familiar even though they are taking place on another planet among creatures who are not humans.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  I learned many things about myself and my hidden places that are not pleasing to God and often are not even in my awareness. I also learned that I can create an entire planet with human-like beings divided into several classes and also populate it with animals of every description.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  For this particular book, I was inspired first of all by reading Maia by Richard Adams (even though the book itself is very different from mine, it gave me the idea to write my book). I am also indebted to Lewis, Tolkien, E Nesbit, Eleanor Farjeon, Ray Bradbury, Edward Eager, Eleanor Cameron and other authors who opened my young eyes to the vast expanses of fantasy.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  I hope each reader will experience the joy that I did as they embark on this journey with Talasa and her companions!
