As we dive into the Fathers heart we are overwhelmed by His presence, the fullness of
joy. From this place we begin to see from His perspective. As we see and understand His
world we are compelled to intercede. We are now praying and speaking with fresh insight.
We see that we no longer have to pray from a place of defense. Instead, we pray
offensive prayers from His presence. When we speak our petitions and most importantly
our declarations into the atmosphere, authority and breakthrough come. From the intimate
place with our Father, everything is birthed.
Bill and Beni Johnson are the senior pastors of Bethel
Church. Together they serve a growing number of churches
that have partnered for revival. Beni oversees Bethels
intercessors and Prayer House. Her approach to intercession
makes supernatural connection with the Lord accessible to
all. Bill and Beni have three children and their spouses. They
also have eight grandchildren.

While it was designed to accompany Johnson's novel The Happy Intercessor, the devotional guide also functions as an enjoyable independent work.
This book has completely transformed the way I view intercession, confronting the common belief that praying for others is a burden or a chore. Instead, Johnson depicts a life of intercession as a tremendous privilege and a thrilling occupation as she teaches how to partner with the Father's heart to release Heaven's plans on earth. Most importantly, Johnson presents the fulfillment that every Christian can find in being an intercessor and the joy that floods the heart and sustains deeper prayer and intimacy with God.
The Joy of Intercession led me on a journey through the realms of the Spirit, challenging me to examine the beliefs I have held within my own heart and presenting a revolutionary and refreshing view on intercession. Each day begins with a relevant Scripture, and then gives understanding of the day's topic through a devotion from The Happy Intercessor. The following reflection questions challenge the reader to evaluate the topic in relation to their current understanding of God. The meditative action allows the reader to apply the insight to his or her own spiritual life. This structure makes the material become more than just information in a book, but allows the reader to easily and effectively incorporate the truths into his or her life.
Through the study of topics such as intimacy with God, discerning things of the Spirit, spiritual warfare, resting in the Lord, and much more, The Joy of Intercession will serve as an essential tool to anyone seeking to begin, restore, or confirm their calling to intercession.

This book is written as a 40 day devotional journal on how to discover your inner intercessor.
I like how each chapter is divided into 4 sections: a bible verse, a devotional, a series of reflection questions, and a practical application section.
I like the personal testamonies that Mrs. Johnson shares with in her book, about how she came to discover how God was using her to pray for other, I also really like how she ends the book with a section on Joy. Their are so many unhappy people in this world, and so reading about true Joy is really uplifting.
The only negative feedback I would have about this book, is that it seems to be geared more towareds women then men. It would have been nice if she would have made it a little bit more gender neutral, because God has called everyone to intercession.
Overall I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about the value and importance of prayer in their lives, and in the lives of others.
