I've watched this once-through with my three-year olds and while it does not hold their attention the entire time they do enjoy watching it and already ask for "baby Jesus" in their list of DVD requests (we had watched the Christmas story first which I bought separately, which ended up just being the first part of this DVD). The animation is a bit SimCityish (seems to hearken back to more a 90's style of computer animation), but it's good and simple enough to not distract from the story itself. As is probably true for almost any Bible-based production, there will be parts that you feel aren't entirely accurate, but in this movie there was nothing glaring here, just details that I would consider non-crucial. I just really wanted something to introduce Jesus's death, burial, and resurrection to my young kids in a format that would grab them. They did not watch it closely enough yet for me to feel that they really got the story line, but I think they will watch it again and again and at this age, that's a thumbs-up. It's all about exposure right now, and any conversation-opener possible. I'm happy with it and look forward to watching it again (it's good for adults, too:)
I loved this movie. I watched it with my 3yo son and we both liked it. It has great stories from the Bible about Jesus' life. It is a wonderful way for kids to learn about Jesus and can lead to great conversations with your kids. It is a little bit long for younger kids, but my 3yo just "plays" while watching it (like he does with any feature length movie). However, at times he was completely engrossed and sat mesmerized. I love hearing him telling me different things about Jesus now. I also love that it is not just "moral lessons", but actually instructing kids about Jesus' life. We will be watching this again!!
