Author Bio

ALEXANDER JONES (d. 1970) is considered one of the world's leading biblical scholars. He lectured extensively and authored innumerable articles and several books based on the Scriptures. Formerly a senior lecturer in divinity at Christ's College, Liverpool, he studied at Upholland College in Lancashire, the Gregorian University, and the Biblical Institute in Rome, as well as L'École Biblique in Jerusalem.

This is a great addition to my Christian studies. In what I have read so far, there is greater clarity than what all the other translators give us as God's Word. The book itself is of high quality and well worth the money. October 1, 2012

I love this translation! When I went to Christ for the Nations (1979-1981) I bought and 8-translation New Testament that contained the Jerusalem Bible New Testament. Only after I bought a book by Prof. Peter Kreeft did I learn that J.R.R. Tolkien had translated the book of Job for the Jerusalem Bible, reader's edition. The entire Old Testament is beautifully translated into modern English; I did find one scripture I had trouble understanding-- Isa. 29:14; "very well, I shall have to go on BEING PRODIGAL OF PRODIGIOUS PRODIGIES WITH THIS PEOPLE." I found this amusing, and I highly recommend this Bible translation. The binding is beautiful, and I have no complaints whatever! May 6, 2009

I aquire my first copy of the Jerusalem Bible when it was initially published by DoubleDay. I found the readers edition to easy to read and very well notated with foonotes, along with direct notes on editorial errors made in the oringal text that it was translated from. I am glad that they have republished it. January 16, 2009

I found this bible to be exactly what I thought it would be. It serves my purpose well. I am always looking for other versions of the bible and this one meets all my expectations. April 2, 2008
