The Isaiah Targum 5 5 2 2

Great Purchase! Very happy. The internet company that starts with an 'A' and ends with an 'n' shipped me Jeremiah instead of Isaiah. They do look so much alike. And so I found ChristianBooks and no problems with the 'authors' of the Bible. The actual book is excellent. Chilton wrote a number of books surrounding the Isaiah Targum prior to AB Isaiah Targum and so you'll find him back-referencing some of his other books. Since these are inexpensive and easily orderable, it makes for a nice package of discussion. And of course the Aramaic Bible is unbelievably good; I'm surprised it took so long to notice it (I ended up with 10 volumes). October 28, 2011

The Isaiah Targum is resource Gospel study Bruce D. Chilton has provided a necessary resource for any serious critical study of the Gospels. His translation makes available to those who cannot read Aramaic--and insight for those who can--the richness of the Targum, which was the Scripture Jesus used. Without this, any understanding of Jesus is wanting. I wholeheartedly recommend this volume to those interested in knowing more about the teachings of Jesus. October 20, 2011
