Its 1887, and Lyric Bolton doesnt ask for muchjust friendship and acceptance from her rural Missouri community. But her family is regarded with suspicion and fear because of her mothers sicknessa sickness of the mind that grows worse by the day. Lyric is resigned to a life of isolation and doesnt see any way outbut thats before Ian Cawley bolts into her life on a runaway stallion.
As she opens her heart to Ian, Lyric dares to imagine a different life. But theres more to Ians story than hes letting on, and the sheriff is hot on his trail. Can Lyric trust her heartand the man she cant live without?
A tender story of Gods love and faithfulnesseven when all hope seems lost.
The Bible tells us, Here abides Faith, Hope and Charity Abides means that they are forever even though, at times, it may seem as if all Hope is gone. That is certainly the case for Lyric until Ian knocks himself out and gets amnesia in her barn. Now it is a case of mistaken identity as love blooms between the two. This book is a lot of fun. There is so much going on and Lyric and Ian are such wonderful characters. We really want their romance to succeed. But more importantly this is all about Hope and how God can give it back to us when we do not expect it. Great story, great fum, great romance. I enjoyed this book a lot and am looking forward to the next book from this highly talented author.

Nicki OlsenAppomattox,VAAge: Under 18Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5A touch of Romance!January 7, 2015Nicki OlsenAppomattox,VAAge: Under 18Gender: Female*Book Description*
Lyric Bolton has been caring for her ailing mother and tiring but sweet younger sister, Lark, for so long she almost feels as if she's the mother of the house. She's not bitter or upset...at least not with her family. The town she's lived in as long as she could remember has pretty much shunned her and her family just as long. All due to her mothers illness. Actually, the spooklight floating and bouncing around windows and people doesn't help either but Lyric's used to it...and she wants out. Biding her time until her poor mother passes on, Lyric plans their escape route out of their friendless town. Stepping out to investigate a loud noise in the night she's surprised, and horrified, to find a dying outlaw, at least she assumes he's an outlaw, inside her bashed in barn. Lyric quickly assesses the situation and calls the sheriff on the half-dead handsome man claiming memory loss. When the sheriff takes days and days to show up due to her family's 'reputation', Lyric feels herself drawn to the man she endearingly calls, Joseph. Can they find the truth-and love-together no matter the cost? And when a surprising, gripping secret threatens to bring Lyric down, will she remember to stand tall no matter what she believed to be true?
Ian Cawley is hot on someone's tail. Or at least he was until an unexpected turn of events leads him straight through a beautiful girl's barn door. Now, with memory loss, a suspecting sister, and too giggly unabashed girls, he struggles to learn the truth of his identity. When unexpected changes of heart changes his mind, does Ian really want to know his name? Or would he rather live off the grid with a woman of a tender heart? Will he even be given the chance?
*What I liked*
I loved this book...it was different, special and the names were so unique! I have a special friend named Ian and that just made it better. The cover is one of my new favorites and my grandfather loved this as well. Add in some humor and you have pretty closed to perfect!
*What I didn't like*
The only reason I didn't like some of the action in this book is because I am one big chicken. In all honesty though, you may do some skimming towards the end because there is some pretty stomach turning stuff in there.
I give The Healers Touch... 4 stars!
*Why my rating is what it is*
My rating is 4 stars because, while it may not be at the very top of your tbr list if your looking for a high amount of romance, it's still a wonderful book and I'm so glad I had the pleasure of reading it!
*I received this book from Harvest House, the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts were my own and I was not compensated in any other way.
VeraNorth CarolinaAge: Over 65Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5light, easy readDecember 22, 2014VeraNorth CarolinaAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3My thoughts: I do enjoy Lori Copelands books and she has written a lot of them. The Healers Touch was not a favorite of mine, though. I felt the title somewhat misleading as I anticipated a character who truly had a healers touch in that they were helpful with peoples injuries and sicknesses. That was not the case in the story.
Secondly, while folklore is replete with a variety of lights and things that go-bump-in-the-night, this story capitalized on a spooklight legend from the mountains. I felt it was a bit overplayed and overdone as far as its inclusion into the story.
The characters were nicely fleshed out and seemed to fill the bill of hillbilly mountain folks. Lyric was the female lead and a devoted daughter. She was hard working and fell in love with the stranger, Ian, who literally came bolting into her life. My favorite characters were Lark (sister to Lyric) and Boots (friend of Larks). There two were into everything, totally preteen-mountain-kids, and so very funny. Youll literally chuckle at some of their conversations and actions.
So what do I think about The Healers Touch? I think it is a good book to read. Clean. Funny. Characters that put God first and who have compassionate hearts. I can easily recommend it for a light, easy read. It just wasnt one of my favorite Lori Copeland books.

KGD history teacher4 Stars Out Of 5A Western RomanceOctober 22, 2014KGD history teacherQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5What do you do when you are an outcast of the town because of your mothers irrational behavior, you have a young sister to care for, there are unexplained lights that mysteriously appear in your area, and a wounded stranger appears on your doorstep? The stranger does not remember who he is and you suspect that he is a member of one of the outlaw gangs who populate the area. If you are Lyric, you wonder if you might turn him for a reward which would enable you to get out of your situation and move on. On the other hand, he might be innocent and your turning him over might result in the hanging of an innocent man. Such is the dilemma facing Lyric in The Healers Touch.
This is a fast paced book set in the West complete with a mysterious stranger, curious children, a lovely heroine, and lots of outlaws. It is sure to keep you reading straight through to the end.

Robin Willson4 Stars Out Of 5Leaves a tender impression on your heartSeptember 6, 2014Robin WillsonQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Lyric Bolton is a lonely young woman. Living on a farm in 1887 rural Missouri and ostracized because of her mother's behavior, she yet tends to her mother's illness and raises her little sister. She's waiting for the day when she can leave and take her little sister away.
U.S. Marshall Ian Cawley is after his man, ruthlessly pursuing on his high spirited horse Norman. That is until a local legend gets involved, and Norman crashes through Lyric's barn. Ian might be just the thing she needs - if he lives. Can she trust that he won't reject her like the townspeople have?
This is a lovely story of God-loving people getting to know each other and struggling through life, trying to follow His guidelines - the rural setting and local legend enhancing the tale. Very well written, Lori Copeland brings these poignant characters to life and leaves a tender impression on your heart.

Tell us a little about yourself. Lori Copeland has written for both the general and Christian market. She has a deep love of God, and finds that laughter often makes the difference between a good or bad day.
What was your motivation behind this project? "The Healer's Touch" is based on a true legend in my home state of Missouri. While the facts are incredulous and hard to believe they are told to be "the truth" in these parts. I have seen the 'light" and can honestly say that I believe one day folks will figure out the source, but then there are a lot of unexplainable things here on this earth. You aren't asked to believe every incident that I've included in this work of fiction, but every story I've included has been sworn to have been witnessed.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I want the reader to walk away with the knowledge that God works in mysterious ways, and even if you live in the backwoods of the Missouri Ozark's and your true love is there, God will see that you two meet up. If you are a reader who must have an answer to everything, you probably won't like this book. But if you love a fun story written with fact, fiction and a whole lot of imagination then I think you'll be pleased with your purchase. Laughter is good for the soul though sometimes the source doesn't make a lick of sense. But if you weren't there you can't say, can you?
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I was constantly reminded of how God DOES work in mysterious ways, and while there may not be an obvious answer to an oddity there no doubt IS an answer. Perhaps man isn't meant to know everything here on earth:)
