Francis Schaeffer wonders why in the midst of the shift toward liberalism in our day the Church has been very silent. While there are Christians who believe the truth, many of them aren't standing up for it. Schaeffer also emphasizes the need for evangelicals to disagree with grace and not to stop loving those who are on wayward paths. As a moving testimony about the times we live in, The Great Evangelical Disaster forces each of us to look inward and see whether or not we are standing for the truths which Christ has revealed to us in scripture. If we are, it also causes us ask ourselves whether we are loving those who disagree with us while unashamedly proclaiming the truth to them. As the familiar chorus goes, "They will know we are Christians by our love."
