Have evangelicals diluted the truth and sold out to the world? In this thought-provoking new book, Schaeffer exposes the rise of compromise and its tragic consequences within our society and within the evangelical church.
Recognized internationally for his work in Christianity and culture, Francis A. Schaeffer authored more than twenty books, which have been translated into a score of languages and sold millions worldwide. He and his wife, Edith, founded L'Abri Fellowship international study and discipleship centers. Schaeffer passed away in 1984, but his influence and legacy continue worldwide.

Clearly outlines how liberal theology has influenced the church over the last century and how evangelicals have accommodated the demand to 'soften' God's authority instead of firmly, but lovingly, refusing to compromise God's truth. This is a must read!
R. A. Compton5 Stars Out Of 5March 7, 2003R. A. ComptonFrancis Schaeffer wonders why in the midst of the shift toward liberalism in our day the Church has been very silent. While there are Christians who believe the truth, many of them aren't standing up for it. Schaeffer also emphasizes the need for evangelicals to disagree with grace and not to stop loving those who are on wayward paths. As a moving testimony about the times we live in, The Great Evangelical Disaster forces each of us to look inward and see whether or not we are standing for the truths which Christ has revealed to us in scripture. If we are, it also causes us ask ourselves whether we are loving those who disagree with us while unashamedly proclaiming the truth to them. As the familiar chorus goes, "They will know we are Christians by our love."
