great guidance This is a companion volume to the equally excellent Ã¢ÂÂThe GradÃ¢ÂÂs Guide to Time with GodÃ¢ÂÂ and Ã¢ÂÂThe GradÃ¢ÂÂs Guide to Choosing WellÃ¢ÂÂ. As the title suggests, this is a book centred on handling the stressful times associated with graduate studies and the student lifestyle. Any of us who have been through this life stage may well have wanted a book like this to help us through, but every stage of growth comes with its own collection of stress-inducing highs and lows. Yet this pocket sized book (yes really !!) outlines the stresses against a biblical model that provides guidance for living and some of the answers. In ten chapters a lot of ground is covered in examining personal issues, approaches to life, coping with changes, insecurities, friendships, discipline and relationships. It is not a passive read because the reader is asked to stand back from time to time and challenge themselves on doing what is right in the sight of God. In this respect, the device of drawing regular parallels with the life of Daniel is a particularly good illustration of how making a stand marks out an individual as having the self-control sought by God, drives us to prayer to seek GodÃ¢ÂÂs will and keeps our attention on service to God. It encourages independence within scripture guidance. Points are very well illustrated with real life examples, lessons from scripture on the situations that characters like Esther, King David and Paul found themselves in and well argued and reasoned sound advice blended into an easily readable text. I like this book a great deal and will be passing my copy on to someone entering their graduate studies in the next year. IÃ¢ÂÂd highly commend this book as one of the best of its type and its portability is an excellent feature in having people read it in their free moments and apply its lessons with immediacy.
