Product DescriptionThe apostle Paul's letter to the Romans is widely regarded as his magnum opus. At the center of that book lies chapter 8, which Derek Thomas calls the "the best chapter in the Bible," for the 39 verses of that single chapter of Scripture, Paul shows how the Gospel brings believers all the way home. From "no condemnation" (v. 1) to "no separation" (v. 39), the chapter is an overview of the Christian life.
In How the Gospel Brings Us All The Way Home, Dr. Thomas leads his readers step-by-step through this remarkable chapter of Scripture, unfolding the way stations along the Christian journey and uncovering profound exhortations and reassurances for God's people. Product Information

Here he finds an exposition of the steps through which God leads His people in the process of their salvation, but also loving counsel on such topics as prayer and resisting the Devil, as well as exhortations and comforts for weary pilgrims.
ChristianBookPreviews.comHow the Gospel Brings Us All the Way Home, written by Dr. Derek W. H. Thomas, leads readers through Romans 8. Thomas goes through what he calls the best chapter in the Bible, and shows how it encompasses almost the entirety of the Christian life.
Dr. Thomas has written or edited fifteen books, is an associate minister at a church in South Carolina, and is an adjunct professor of systematic theology at Reformed Theological Seminary. This book began as a series of sermons and reads like its source material. Because of this, each chapter is filled with excellent points and material, but the sermon-like format makes it difficult to read more than one chapter at a time due to the mild jump in content and delivery. Dr. Thomas delivers on his intent in the text, giving us the joy of no condemnation found at the start of Romans 8 and reassuring us of no separation from Christ. He beautifully reminds us of things such as Christ's declaration that we are not guilty of sin. Finally, he reassures us in quoting, On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. Overall, How the Gospel Brings Us All the Way Home is an excellent journey through a deep chapter of the Bible, but it is laid out to be taken in strides. It is meant to be read and pondered. Like sermons, a strong message can be drawn from this book, with some chapters bearing more fruit than others depending upon where a person is in his Christian walk. The overarching message is still excellent and worthwhile for anyone.
