Product Description

Combining three incredibly important books for the teaching of the Church, this book offers a complete and comprehensive guide to understanding the Gospel throughout the whole of Scripture. Hugely popular, this collection containing Gospel & Kingdom, Gospel & Wisdom and The Gospel in Revelation is being released in this special format and will be an essential guide to be used again and again for those who seek to understand the Bible in the light of who Jesus is. Those already acquainted with Goldsworthy's work will be familiar with his pithy and engaging style. Straightforward in his approach, he looks at how the Bible can only be understood through the eyes of the Gospel. This being the base of his interpretation, he studies the Old Testament and its application for today, Israel's wisdom literature and its role in the Christian life and the purpose and contemporary relevance of the book of Revelation, his knowledge of Old Testament idiom and structure enhancing his writing. This trilogy follows the Bible chronologically to give the reader a complete overview of evangelical Biblical interpretation forming an essential one-stop reference that will last a lifetime.

Publisher's Description

This book represents excellent value, combining three Goldsworthy classics (all now Out-of-Print separately) in one volume: Gospel and Kingdom (ISBN 085 364 6082), Gospel and Wisdom (ISBN 085 364 6511), and The Gospel in Revelation (ISBN 085 364 6309). Combined, these books provide an excellent model for understanding the Christian interpretation of Scripture, both Old and New Testaments. Gospel and Kingdom is concerned with finding the gospel principles inherent in the Pentateuch and historical books of the Old Testament; Gospel and Wisdom applies the same objective with regard to the Wisdom literature of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job. The Gospel in Revelation demystifies the notoriously difficult Apocalypse by reference to the gospel theme uniting the startling visions. From Paternoster.

I havn't finished the book yet but have scanned through it and I'm half way through the middle book, The Kingdon in Revelations. This book alone is well worth the price. It is easy to read, not to technical, and lays an excellent foundation for the study of The Revelation of John. This book would make a good text for a Bible study because it puts The Revelation in context of the entire Bible . No speculative interpretation here, just sound, kingdom centered explanation.

Mr. Goldsworthly has written better as of late, especially his work entitled According to Plan, so this book was a huge disappointment. Very brief to a fault and not organized enough to digest and recall his points. Save your money and buy either Robert's: God's Big Picture or another book entitled Announcing the Kingdom.
